AMTA Holiday Luncheon

Donations, please…

Something new and exciting for the annual holiday luncheon…door prizes!  We are beginning to collect items for the AMTA Holiday Luncheon.  All of the donations will be combined to make several fantastic door prize packages.  Suggestions include dining certificates, hotel stays, attraction passes, gift items, etc.  Please contact Beth Bailey, Clayton County CVB at beth@visitscarlett.com or Britney Gray, GDEcD at bgray@georgia.org to donate. 

AMTA ABA and NTA Co-Op Information

Once again, your AMTA Sales Committee is working to co-op with GDEcD to allow AMTA members to display their group tour profile sheets at both NTA (November 15 – 19, 2008  in Pittsburg, PA) and ABA (January 7 – 12, 2009 in Charlotte, NC)  at a minimal cost.  more information...

MEMBERSHIP - “Take Flight in ‘08”

New Members!
AMTA Airways Flight 115 is filling up with new members!  Look at our progress!  Please help us fill the entire airplane by the end of the year! (˝ window = 1 new member)

  • The Membership Drive is flying high!  This is an excellent time to join AMTA.  New members who join between now and the end of the year will pay the regular, annual dues amount of $195 and receive membership benefits for the rest of 2008 AND all of 2009! 
  • The grand prize giveaway for the member who brought in the most new members in 2008 will be announced at the AMTA Holiday Luncheon on December 3rd.

2009 Membership Renewal Notices

It's that time of year again--time to renew your membership in the only Georgia state travel region that serves the Atlanta Metro tourism industry--AMTA!
You should have received your AMTA 2009 annual dues invoice in the mail.  Please renew your membership promptly.  If you didn't receive an invoice or have misplaced it, you can also renew your membership through AMTA's website. 

  • Use this 2009 AMTA Membership Application - [pdf] that can be used to renew your current membership.
  • Please print the application and return it with your payment.

Our goal is to have all of our members renewed by December 31, so help us reach that goal. We have an exciting year ahead and you don't want to miss out!

Ages 4 – 12. Visit the Classification, Conservation, Observation, Sensation, and Pollination Stations, and find out through hands-on activities about each of these exciting areas of our natural world. Storytime by the River
Wednesday, November 5 at 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
Ages 3 – 5. Using books, finger-plays, or crafts, our volunteer storytellers share stories about how animals prepare for the long winter months. General admission: $5 adults, $4 seniors, $2 children 3-12, FREE for members and children 2 and under. Go to www.chattnaturecenter.com for more information.  

Day Hike
Saturday, November 8 at 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
$40 non-members/$30 members
Enjoy a day- hiking adventure to the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River with a CNC interpretative naturalist and High Country Outfitters guide. We’ll begin at Brasstown Bald and continue into the MarkTrail Wilderness, and onto the Appalachian Trail. This is a moderate hike with some off-trail walking. We will caravan from CNC. Bring water and a pack lunch. Snacks will be provided. We recommend pre-registration for all programs. If spaces are available, we will accept same day registration.
 
Nature Exchange Day
Saturday, November 8 at 1:00 – 3:00.
Ages 4 – adult. For those that participated in the spring or summer Nature Exchanges, now is the time to make some more trades!  If this is your first time – come on out to CNC to learn more about this exciting new program. Bring a natural object from your home to show and tell, and get a sneak preview of the Nature Exchange, one of the fun new programs coming to CNC in 2009! November 2008 - Punchline Comedy Club - The Punchline is Atlanta's Number One Comedy Club and is the largest comedy club only in Atlanta with the biggest list of nationally recognized and industry honored comedians. November 7 and 8, 2008 - KaBloom Holiday Open House - Third annual open house with holiday decor and tablescapes, demonstrations, designer meet and greet, noshes and nibbles, wine and drink, and door prizes. November 8, 2008   -  Big Trees Forest Preserve hosts free outdoor lectures to educate the public about plants and animals that reside in Big Trees. These lectures take place on Saturdays throughout the month. November 8th speaker is Mary Woehrel. Mary Woehrel will be giving a talk about the mushrooms found in Big Trees.  Mary is the President of the Atlanta Mushroom Society and is extremely knowledgeable.  She will be giving out a handout on the mushrooms found in Big Trees.  Lecture to be held at 2:00PM.
