Many thanks go to Carla White and Amanda Roberson with Hard Rock Café for hosting the AMTA general membership meeting on October 7. We appreciate their hospitality! The program on International Marketing was very enlightening, thanks to presenters Kevin Langston and Brandon Barnes. You can find a copy of their PowerPoint presentation on the AMTA website in the Members Only section under “Resources.”
Our next general membership meeting will be AMTA’s holiday luncheon on December 2 at the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North in Sandy Springs. Details will be coming soon.
Door Prize Donations Needed…
This year for AMTA’s holiday luncheon we are doing things a little different! We are asking our members to donate door prizes to be given out at our luncheon but what is different is that the prizes will be wrapped. Since most of us don’t get the thrill of Santa bringing presents anymore (because you know you are on his naughty list) we thought it would be fun to receive a wrapped gift.
Organizations and businesses that are willing to donate are asked to email Beth Bailey at the Clayton County CVB at beth@visitscarlett.com so that we know what kind of prizes to expect. Then simply bring your wrapped door prize with a tag on the outside listing the donating organization.
If, for some reason, you will be unable to attend this year’s holiday luncheon but would still like to donate a door prize please contact Beth to make pick up arrangements.
Let’s make this fun and give (and get) some great door prizes!

GFEA Comes to You
The Georgia Festivals and Events Association in partnership with Southeast Tourism Society will host a series of three One-Day Seminars throughout Georgia (Tifton, Dahlonega and Sandy Springs). If you produce a festival or special event, interested to obtain additional sponsorship support or need creative ways to market your event, plan to attend a seminar close to you.
The seminars are open to everyone, including festival managers and event planners, parks and recreations professionals, government agencies, chambers and CVBs, amusement attractions, arts organizations and students interested in special events planning. Click HERE to get information on the Sandy Springs Meeting. Or click http://georgiafestivals.org/happening/one_day_registration_09.pdf to Sign-Up.
Message from the Meetings and Programs Committee
Is it challenging for you to attend the AMTA general membership meetings because of regular, standing meetings that you must attend like board meetings, city council meetings, management meetings, etc.? We have two options that may help you:
Option #1: If you are the primary representative in AMTA, consider changing that designation to another employee. That person can attend AMTA meetings on your behalf and bring information back to you.
Option #2: If you are the primary representative in AMTA, consider adding an additional representative for only $50 more. The additional representative can attend AMTA meetings and bring information back to you.
Membership renewal notices will be mailed out this fall. Please consider the options above when you fill out your membership application. It is important that your organization remain an active and informed member of AMTA. You don’t want to miss out on all the benefits—great networking opportunities, educational programs, Web site listings, cooperative marketing opportunities, and much more.
