- Tourism Day at the Capital, January 27, 8 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Information from Kym Hughes, Governmental Affairs Chair: The big
day is fast approaching and I hope you have plans to visit your local legislators,
before or after you work a shift at the AMTA booth of course (ok you do not have
to work a shift but I could really use your help)! Truly, this is the very
best time to get your face in front of your legislators to say Hello and give
them a big THANK YOU for all they do to Support Tourism! This is going
to be a Tough Session and it is important that they know how much we appreciate
all they do. I truly encourage you to take time to leave a note at your
Senators and Representatives offices as you visit for the day. Come on
guys, this is the Hospitality Business! If we can’t make the Officials
feel welcome, how can we make our Visitors feel welcome!
I understand that everyone is very busy so I appreciate any support that
you can offer. If you would like to volunteer to work a 30 minute shift
at the booth, please see the attached schedule (with the names of volunteers
already scheduled to work – we
prefer two people per shift) and send me an email to let me know that you are
available. There is also an agenda attached for
the days’ activities, so you will know what is going on. Please remember
that the agenda is always subject to change so keep your eyes on the dry erase
board that will be located at the Newsstand. We will keep you updated on
any changes for the day on that board.
Thank you for all you do to support tourism in the Atlanta Metro Region and your
membership to AMTA. I look forward to seeing you at the Capitol on January
27th!
