09-09-08 Alpharetta CVB Wins E-Challenge Grant
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 9, 2008
In partnership with the State of Georgia, the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) was awarded the 2008 E-Challenge Grant from the Georgia Tourism Foundation and the Georgia Department of Economic Development. The money will be used to fund a video about Alpharetta, intended to increase tourism to the community by showcasing the best the city has to offer. The Alpharetta CVB was one of 23 organizations seeking more than $55,100 in matching funding.
The E-Challenge Grant was created by the State of Georgia in 2007 in an effort to show a commitment to implementing much-needed technology marketing programs to keep Georgia competitive with busy, savvy, economy-conscious local and global tourists. All applications were reviewed and scored by a committee of judges and this year all 23 applicants received funding. The Grant is funded by the Georgia Department of Economic Development. This year’s funding exceeds last year’s grants by nearly 300%.
Said President and CEO of the Alpharetta CVB, Janet Rodgers, “We are ecstatic to be a recipient of this prestigious grant and we are dedicated to ensuring our organization offers visitors to Alpharetta cutting-edge tools to enhance their overall experience.”
